The sun shines bright....

on my old Kentucky Home.  Another year, another Derby missed.  For as long as I can remember, I have watched the Derby.  My freshman year of college, I was moving out of my dorm room.  I had everything loaded in my car but my TV.  I NEVER missed the Derby.  I signed up for the Horse Racing channel just to watch when we moved to Detroit. Then we moved to Istanbul.  

The pride of the Kentucky Derby is instilled in you from a young age.  And it never leaves.  It has been 13 years since I left Louisville.  But just hearing the beginning of "My Old Kentucky Home", will still bring a tear to my eye.  This will be my 4th Derby that I have missed.  I guess I could stay up late and watch it online. But it is just not the same.

So Happy Derby Day to everyone!  If you have never been to the KY Derby, put it on your bucket list!  The sun, the hats, the exhilaration yelling at your horse to move it over a $2 bet, the mint juleps and the new best friends you will make is what makes the Kentucky Derby one of the best times in your life.
